Udio alternatives: where to make songs you can still download
Udio made some of the most musical AI songs of 2024 and 2025, and then the files went away. After it settled with Universal Music Group in October 2025, downloads were switched off, and Udio's help center still says so today: "downloading of audio, video, and stems has been disabled." You can stream and share your songs as links on udio.com, but you cannot take the audio with you.

If you came to AI music to make something you can keep, here is where to go, with every fact sourced. We make Midhull and put it first for people who make songs on their phone.

Lyrics
Windows down and the radio on
Coffee's cold but the night is gone
Five of us in a borrowed car
Chasing light to wherever we are
Sunrise, take the long way home
Sunrise, we were never alone
Hold the moment, let it glow
Sunrise, sunrise, don't let go
Sunrise, take the long way home
Sunrise, we were never alone
Hold the moment, let it glow
Sunrise, sunrise, don't let go

What was typed
Anthemic alternative rock song, big distorted guitars, driving drums, raw male vocal, about leaving a small town behind1. Midhull
What Udio users usually miss is the file, the control and a way to share outside the platform. Midhull covers all three:
- Keep it. Every song you make downloads as MP3 or WAV, with a chord MIDI file and the lyric sheet, plus stems (drums, bass, keys, lead) from level 10. Downloads are never locked later, even if you change plans. Which plans include stems and MIDI is confirmed with the plans at launch.
- Control it. Udio users know inpainting; Midhull's studio goes further on the phone: redo one section, rewrite or re sing one line, extend, add a bridge, change key or tempo, swap the vocal, make it acoustic, or remix into another genre and keep the vocal. Key and tempo open at level 3 and section redo at level 5 as you make songs.
- Share it. Send a song to anyone: it opens in their browser with its own cover and the lyrics in time, and they can answer with a song.
- Both phones. iPhone and Android.
Midhull is launching soon. Your first full song is free during setup; plans and prices are published at launch.
