The best AI music generator apps in 2026, compared on what you can make, fix, keep and share
We make Midhull, so read this with that in mind: we ranked it first, and the reasons are below in plain terms you can check. Every fact about another app on this page comes from that company's own pricing page, help center, terms, app store listing or credible press, opened on 31 October 2026, and each one is linked at the bottom. We did not invent ratings, user counts or test scores, and we did not run blind listening tests across these apps, so this is not a sound quality shoot out. It is a comparison of what each app lets you do on a phone, and what you get to keep.

Lyrics
I kept the porch light burning through the rain
Wrote your name in dust on the window pane
Every train that passed would shake the floor
I would listen for your footsteps at the door
And the clock keeps talking in the hall
Saying nothing, saying nothing at all
Come back home before the summer ends
We can start again, we can still be friends
Leave the past out on the open road
Come back home and lighten up the load
There's a jacket hanging where you left it last
There's a photograph that's fading way too fast
I have learned to cook for only one
But I still set two plates when the day is done
And the clock keeps talking in the hall
Saying nothing, saying nothing at all
Come back home before the summer ends
We can start again, we can still be friends
Leave the past out on the open road
Come back home and lighten up the load
Maybe we were young and maybe we were proud
Maybe all we needed was to say it out loud
I am saying it now, I am saying it now
Come back home before the summer ends
We can start again, we can still be friends
Leave the past out on the open road
Come back home and lighten up the load
Come back home, come back home

How we ranked them
We scored each app against the job most people come for: you have an idea and a phone, and you want a finished song you are proud of, that you can fix without starting over, keep as a file, and share with someone.
| Criterion | Weight | What we looked at |
|---|---|---|
| Ways to start | 20% | Text, own lyrics, hum or audio, photo, rhythm, remix, sample |
| Control after the first take | 25% | Section edits, single line edits, extend, key, tempo, voice, stems |
| What you keep | 25% | Download rules and caps, formats, whether downloads survive a plan change, written ownership and commercial terms |
| Mobile | 15% | iOS and Android apps, what each app can do on the phone |
| Sharing and community | 15% | How a song reaches a person who does not have the app, feeds, remix credit, challenges |
Things we did not score: sound quality (we did not run a fair blind test across apps), ratings (store ratings are easy to look up and not comparable for a launching app) and price for Midhull (not published until launch).
In the app

1. Midhull: best for making, fixing and sharing finished songs on your phone
Midhull is a music studio app for iPhone and Android, launching soon in English, German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Korean. It is built for the whole life of a song, from the first idea to the person you send it to.
Why it ranks first
- Nine ways to start. Describe it, Write it (your own lyrics), Hum it, Sing it, Snap it (a photo), Dedicate it (a song about a person from a few questions), Tap it (a rhythm), Remix it and Sample it. Most apps give you a text box and an optional upload.
- Fix one thing, keep the rest. Regenerate one section, rewrite or re sing one line, extend by 10 to 90 seconds, add a bridge, change the key by up to 6 semitones, set the tempo anywhere from 40 to 220 BPM, swap the vocal (female, male, duet, group, choir, rap, whisper or your own verified voice), make it acoustic, or move it to another genre and keep the vocal. Lines you like can be locked. Some of these tools open up as you make songs: key and tempo at level 3, section redo and bridges at level 5, instrument swaps at level 8.
- Downloads stay yours. MP3, WAV, stems (drums, bass, keys, lead; stem export opens at level 10), a chord MIDI file and a lyric sheet, with loudness presets for streaming, short video, YouTube and podcasts. Songs you make stay downloadable even if you change plans: Midhull does not lock downloads after the fact.
- Fair by design. Previews do not use your balance; a song counts only when you keep it. If a kept take comes out broken (a gap in the vocal, a skipped line, clipping, cut short, wrong language, silence), the song goes back to your balance automatically. Songs stay on the engine version they were made with, so later edits still match.
- Songs that travel. Send a song to someone and they open it in any browser, with no app and no account, with its own cover and lyrics in time. They can answer with a song of their own, and the two become one split cover. Add birthdays to an occasion calendar and get a reminder five days ahead by default.
- A cover for every song. Each song gets its own cover from a real photograph, a typeface and a layout chosen for that song, not a stock square.
- Community with a pulse. A discover feed, charts by genre, city and language, Fresh 50 for new creators, remix trees that credit every original, and weekly challenges where every entry stays sealed until Release Hour, when they all open at once.
- Your voice only with your consent. Your own voice works after a live read of a consent phrase, which is checked. Midhull does not clone other people and does not imitate real artists.
Good to know
- Midhull is phone first. On the web you open and listen to songs people send you; making happens in the app.
- Your first full song is free during setup. After that there are Creator, Pro and Family plans, monthly or yearly, with a 3 day trial on yearly plans. Prices are published at launch.
- Singing has been tested in 37 languages, from Spanish and Portuguese to Hindi, Arabic and Filipino.
- Personal use is included on every plan, and each song's rights card states what you can do with it under your plan. The full terms are published at launch.
Best for: anyone who wants a finished song on their phone, wants to fix a line instead of rolling the dice again, and wants to keep the file.

2. Suno: best for the widest feature set
Suno runs on web, iOS and Android. Its v6 model family launched on 9 September 2026 and was trained with licensed partners Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe. Suno Studio 2.0, a browser based studio with MIDI and stem tools, is part of the Premier plan.
- Price: in the iOS app, Pro is $10.00 a month and Premier $30.00 a month; the website shows $8 and $24, the per month cost of yearly billing. Free gives 50 credits a day on v6-mini.
- Downloads: since 3 September 2026, Pro includes 20 song downloads a month and Premier 60, and the caps also apply to songs made before that date. Extra downloads are sold separately. Premier's Studio exports are not capped.
- Rights: on paid tiers Suno assigns its rights in outputs to you, without promising that copyright will exist in them; free tier outputs are for personal, non commercial use, and remixes are non commercial on every tier.
Pros
- The largest feature surface in this list: Studio 2.0 with MIDI, up to three stem types, custom models trained on your tracks, Voices and personas, and inputs from text, audio, images and video.
- Licensed partners for v6 (WMG, BMG, Believe).
- Everywhere: web, iOS, Android, CarPlay, Android Auto and an iMessage extension.
Cons
- Monthly download caps on paid plans, applied to older songs too.
- The free tier is limited to v6-mini and personal use, and earlier models were retired at the v6 launch.
- Still in litigation: Universal and Sony, Round Hill, SOCAN and Koda cases are reported as ongoing, and a Munich court ruled against Suno at first instance in the GEMA case on 31 July 2026 (appealable).
Best for: people who want the deepest tools and are comfortable with download caps.

Mureka, from Skywork AI, runs on the web and iOS (an Android listing exists but we could not open it to confirm).

Notes: Suno and Udio share links open on their own websites, which run in any browser (Suno: library stays "playable and shareable" per its terms update post; Udio: share links per its WMG help article). Midhull's studio tools open up with creator levels earned by making songs (key and tempo at level 3, section redo at level 5, stem export at level 10); line edits, extend, vocal style, MP3, WAV and MIDI are open from the start. Which plans include stems and MIDI is confirmed with the plans at launch. Suno's photo, rhythm and sample inputs are from its App Store listing and v6 announcement ("humming a tune, tapping out a beat, or uploading an audio recording"; creates from "text, audio, images, and video"). Suno share links are part of publishing and sharing in its app; Udio's help center confirms udio.com links open for non users. ElevenLabs commercial use is Partial because self serve plans exclude film, TV and games. Musicful is Partial because its Basic plan is non commercial.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI music generator app in 2026?
For making, fixing and sharing finished songs on a phone, we rank Midhull first: nine ways to start, line and section edits, downloads that are never locked later and songs that open in a browser for the person you send them to. Suno has the widest feature set, and ElevenLabs Music suits licensed commercial work.
Which AI music apps work on Android?
From the official listings we checked: Midhull, Suno, Musicful, Soniva, Donna and BandLab have Android apps. Udio says it has no Android app, and we found no Android listing for ElevenMusic or Google Flow Music.
Which apps let me download my songs?
ElevenLabs Music, Google Flow Music (unlimited), Mureka (while subscribed) and Midhull (never locked later) allow downloads on paid plans. Suno caps them at 20 or 60 a month. Udio has disabled downloads.
Can I use AI music commercially?
It depends on the app and the plan. Most free tiers are personal use only. Read Can you use AI music commercially? for the details by platform.
Is there a free AI music app?
Most apps have a limited free tier; Midhull gives you your first full song free. See Free AI song makers compared.
Did you test sound quality?
No. A fair sound comparison needs the same prompts, blind listeners and every app's best model, and we have not run one. We publish our own engine's measured lyric results on AI songs in other languages.
