Free AI song makers: what you actually get for free, app by app
"Free" is the first word people type after "AI song generator", and almost every app says it. The useful question is what the free part includes: how many songs, on which model, whether you can download them, and what you are allowed to do with them. We read each app's own pricing page, help center and terms on 31 October 2026. Here is the fine print, side by side.
Updated
We make Midhull, which is in the table too. Midhull does not have a free tier: your first full song is free, and after that songs come with a plan. We think that is the clearest version of "try it free", and we say so plainly.
Free tiers compared

Lyrics
Windows down and the radio on
Coffee's cold but the night is gone
Five of us in a borrowed car
Chasing light to wherever we are
Sunrise, take the long way home
Sunrise, we were never alone
Hold the moment, let it glow
Sunrise, sunrise, don't let go
Sunrise, take the long way home
Sunrise, we were never alone
Hold the moment, let it glow
Sunrise, sunrise, don't let go
How to read "free"
Free to make is not free to keep. Several free tiers let you create but not download (Suno for newer free users, Udio for everyone, Mureka). If you want the file for a video or a gift, check the download column first.
Free songs are personal use. Every free tier that states its terms limits free songs to personal, non commercial use. A free song in a monetised video or an ad is outside those terms.
Free models are often older. Suno's free tier runs v6-mini; Mureka's runs an older model than its paid plans. What you hear for free may not be what paying users hear.
"No sign up" usually means a web toy. Tools that need no account rarely give you a studio, stems or a way to edit one line.

What you get free on Midhull
- A full song, not a clip. Your first song is a complete song, made inside the welcome before any paywall.
- Nothing to pay, no account needed for that first song.
- Made from what you tell us. The welcome asks what you like and how your songs should feel, and in which language they should be sung.
- Saved on your phone. Your first song is free and stays yours.
After the first song, Midhull has Creator, Pro and Family plans, monthly or yearly. Yearly plans start with a 3 day trial, and we remind you before it ends; monthly plans have no trial. Prices are published at launch. On every plan, previews do not use your balance, and a song that comes out broken is returned automatically.
Make your free song count
Whether it is your first song or your fiftieth, these habits make it one you will play for people:
- Pick a person or a moment, not a genre. "My sister's 30th, she loves 2000s pop punk" beats "pop punk song".
- In the app, use Dedicate it for a person, or Write it if you have lines ready.
- Name two or three instruments and the voice in your description.
- Listen to both choruses before you choose a take.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a completely free AI song maker?
Several apps have free tiers, but each comes with limits: daily credits, older models, no downloads or personal use only. Compare them in the table above.
Which free AI song maker lets me download?
Midhull's free first song is saved on your phone and stays yours. Soundful allows one MP3 a month. Suno's free tier has no monthly downloads for newer users, Mureka downloads need a subscription, and Udio downloads are disabled.
Can I use a free AI song on YouTube or TikTok?
Free tiers are personal use only on every app that states its terms, so monetised use falls outside them. Read Can you use AI music commercially?.
Is Midhull free?
Your first full song is free. After that, songs come with a plan, and prices are published at launch.
Do I need to sign up?
No account is needed for your first Midhull song; it is made during setup in the app. People you send songs to open them in a browser without signing up.
